Layering Basics for Cairo Winter: How to Dress Together, Not Just Alike

Cairo winter isn't like Europe — no snow, but there's a real gap between morning and night temperatures. Layering is the answer, not one heavy coat.
The Rule
Layer by texture, not by warmth. A lightweight shirt under a jacket beats one heavy sweater every time — you control temperature by removing one piece, not sweating through it.
The Formula (Men)
- Base: fitted tee or fine-knit crew
- Mid: denim shirt or overshirt, unbuttoned
- Outer: blazer or field jacket, only after sunset
Finishing the Look
Footwear and accessories carry more weight in a layered outfit because there's more surface area to coordinate. Stick to one metal tone across your watch and belt buckle, and let your shoes match the darkest piece in the layer stack — usually the outer layer, not the base. A scarf is optional in Cairo's mild winter, but if you add one, keep it the same weight as your mid-layer shirt so nothing looks bulkier than it needs to.
Couples Styling Note

Matching tones (not matching prints) reads intentional. Denim for him, a soft beige shirt for her — same temperature range, different weight, same palette.
